The Driver Hub

Driver safety e-learning module from The Driver Hub for van and car drivers

The Driver Hub is our innovative and exciting new e-learning programme for van and car drivers:

The new government Road Safety Strategy highlights the need for organisations to take a closer look at the safety of their drivers and vehicles. Despite this, many drivers receive little or no training unless they fall under the Driver CPC regulations.

The Driver Hub is an easily accessible and affordable e learning solution which raises awareness of key safety issues. Each month, drivers receive and watch a short, targeted video followed by a few questions for them to complete. Upon finishing each module, drivers obtain a certificate, demonstrating the commitment your organisation places on road safety, both to your employees and to the wider industry at an annual cost of only £48 per driver.

Each session lasts no more than 15 minutes and is packed with practical, thought-provoking information to help drivers understand the risks associated with driving and how to mitigate them.

Every month focuses on a different topic and gives essential information to inform and educate.

One-Day Fleet Manager Responsibilities Training

Due to the limited regulatory focus on the operation of van, car, and grey fleets, this area is frequently overlooked in professional training programmes. Transport Managers are required to undertake regular Transport Manager CPC refresher training every five years; however, Fleet Managers often progress through their entire careers without any formal development to support their operational responsibilities.

This one-day course provides managers with a comprehensive overview of the legislation relevant to fleet operations, along with key considerations relating to driver behaviour. The Health and Safety component is particularly valuable, as many participants also fulfil wider responsibilities in roles such as depot or area management.

The training can be delivered on your premises for groups of up to 15 managers, or individual delegates may attend one of our mixed-group sessions held at various locations across the UK.

The programme has been designed and is delivered by Alison Moriarty FCILT, a recognised fleet risk specialist who has received multiple awards for reducing collisions and enhancing safety in previous operational roles. Alison also contributes to several high-profile advisory boards and committees and was inducted into the Fleet News Hall of Fame in 2025.

Van/Car Driver Training

Driving is the highest risk work activity that most of us will ever do but outside of the HGV/PSV world, driver training is often neglected.

When questioned about their job role, most van and car drivers will respond with the on-site tasks they do, electrician, road worker, plumber etc, but the reality is that they probably drive for a high percentage of their working day.

This half day course highlights the responsibilities they have for their own safety and the safety of other road users and gives them the tools to get home safely every day.

The content will help them to understand the consequences of getting it wrong, both in terms of their own wellbeing, and the legal sanctions they could receive.

The training can be delivered on your premises for groups of up to 20 drivers across the UK.

A Van Fleet Audit provides an independent, structured review of how your organisation manages its vehicles, drivers, and associated risks. Although vans fall outside many of the stricter regulations that apply to HGV fleets, organisations still carry significant legal, financial, and moral responsibilities for their operation. An audit helps ensure those responsibilities are being met.

Strengthen Legal Compliance

Even without HGV‑level regulation, employers have clear duties under health and safety legislation, the Road Traffic Act, and corporate manslaughter laws.

Reduce Collision Rates and Operational Risk

Collisions involving vans are common, costly, and often preventable and frequently a result of negative behaviour and training needs.

Protect the Organisation’s Reputation

Road incidents involving company vehicles attract negative attention and can damage public trust. With many fleet vehicles being liveried, you run the risk of being tried in the court of public opinion.

Identify Structural Weaknesses in Fleet Governance

Many organisations discover through audits that, responsibility for vans is unclear, policies are outdated or inconsistent and line managers are unaware of legal obligations.

Provide Assurance to Directors and Senior Leaders

Boards and executive teams increasingly require evidence that fleet risk is being properly managed.

A professionally conducted audit provides a clear, impartial assessment along with practical recommendations, giving senior leaders confidence that risks are understood and under control.
